CREATING CHANGE: BREAKING THE CYCLE OF
POVERTY THROUGH COMMUNITY ACTION
We are committed to breaking the generational cycle of poverty through meaningful action and
community-driven solutions. Insights from our recent Family Matters Cost of Living Survey have
informed a detailed report ( which has been disseminated to local councillors, MSPs, housing
associations, and national organisations, including the Poverty Commission, the Bank of
England’s Scottish Office, and One Parent Families Scotland. The latter has requested further
engagement to explore collaborative opportunities. This year, we took meaningful steps to
address systemic barriers and build stronger, more inclusive communities
Influencing National Policy: Speech,
Language & Communication
Indigo continues to contribute to the national
conversation through our involvement with
both the National Working Group and the
Advisory Group for Speech, Language and
Communication.
Strategic Partnerships: Housing &
Cost of Living
Following the release of our Cost of Living
report, we have strengthened relationships
with housing associations, particularly in
Castlemilk. We have established Key
contacts in each of the housing associations
making it easier to support and advocate for
families in relation to housing but also to
make communications between families and
housing associations, clearer, more accurate
and impactful.
Inclusive Resources for Families
Building on our knowledge of inclusive
practice and parental support, we developed
the Indigo Connects Carers Resource Pack.
This electronic resource is available across
our services and shared by our Family
Support Coordinator in both full and tailored
formats to meet individual family needs. It is
also proving valuable to professionals
supporting families with additional needs.
Strengthening Community
Leadership
We are actively building Indigo’s reputation
as a key stakeholder in The Village. This
includes developing opportunities for service
expansion, community events, and
environmental improvements in partnership
with local authorities.
